About
The reference directory for mānuka honey in Aotearoa
An editorial directory of MPI-export-certified apiaries with verified UMF licences and published MGO numbers — built to give domestic and international buyers a single trustworthy starting point against the standards set by Apiculture NZ and the UMF Honey Association.
Why this exists
Global retail volume of "mānuka honey" runs several times higher than total NZ production. That gap is counterfeit, dilution, and relabelling — damaging buyers who don't get what they paid for and the legitimate NZ apiaries whose work is undermined by it. This directory exists to make the verified side of the market easy to find: every apiary listed meets MPI export certification and either holds a current UMF licence or publishes MGO numbers from accredited NZ laboratories.
Listing standards
To be listed, an apiary must be MPI-export-certified, hold an active UMF Honey Association licence or publish MGO numbers from an accredited NZ laboratory, operate from a verifiable NZ apiary location registered with Apiculture NZ, and meet the MPI scientific definition of monofloral or multifloral mānuka. Listings are reviewed quarterly and removed when standards lapse.
Editorial team
Editorial team based in Aotearoa. Listings, regional briefs, and field notes are produced and maintained in-house. Where paid placements appear in future, they will be clearly tagged and segregated from the editorial directory.
Important caveat
This directory does not provide medical advice. Therapeutic-use notes on this site summarise common practice and published research only — for any wound care or sustained therapeutic application, consult a healthcare provider. Mānuka honey is regulated as a food.
