Why this shop exists
Buying mānuka honey in New Zealand is oddly hard. The big brands sell only their own jars, so you can't compare. The multi-brand retailer mixes honey in with supplements and naturopath advice. The comparison sites price in US dollars and lean on what the honey supposedly does for you. And almost every page that explains grades gets the arithmetic wrong in the same direction — upwards.
So: one shop, in New Zealand dollars, where every mānuka jar shows its grade and licence number exactly as the producer prints them, links to the UMF Honey Association's own table, and makes no health claims at all. Plus the other New Zealand honeys, which are excellent and a fraction of the price.
The rules we run on
- Sealed producer jars, never repacked.We don't decant, re-pot or relabel anything, and we never put a grade on a label of our own.
- The producer is named on every jar.If we can't name them, we don't sell it.
- Numbers come first, and exactly as printed.Grade, MGO, size, price incl. GST, price per 100 g. Anything we didn't print ourselves is linked to its source and dated.

- No listing until we can ship it. No wholesale account, no stock, no photo — no product page.
What's actually true today
We hold no stock, we have no wholesale account signed, and nothing on this site is for sale. What we do have is work that's useful now: the UMF Honey Association's grade table with its source and the date we read it, 5 UMF™-licensed brands priced in New Zealand dollars from their own shops, 10 floral honey types described by the producers who harvest them, and eight guides that cite everything.
What this site used to be, and why that matters
Until this rebuild, nz-manuka-honey.co.nz was a directory of eight mānuka apiaries, and nz-honey.co.nz was a directory of twelve honey producers. None of those twenty businesses existed. They carried invented “MPI export certified” badges, invented years trading, invented hive counts, invented prices and, in two cases, invented relationships with named iwi and hapū. This site also told readers that UMF™ 20+ had four hundred times the methylglyoxal of UMF™ 5+, which is false by a factor of about forty.
All of it is gone. The invented business pages return 410 Gone rather than redirecting, so the names stop circulating rather than being quietly forwarded somewhere useful. Any real business that happens to share one of those names had nothing to do with them. The full list of what was deleted and what we couldn't source is on our editorial policy page, in public, because a site that quietly fixes its own errors is asking you to take its word for the rest.
nz-honey.co.nz is now merged into this site: its honey-type pages point at the raw New Zealand honey range.
Who writes this
NZ Mānuka Honeydoes, as an organisation. There's no personal byline anywhere on this site and no invented one either — every guide is authored by the shop, and corrections come back to the shop.
UMF™ is a trade mark of the UMF Honey Association. We are a retailer of other producers' sealed jars and do not hold a UMF™ licence.
