22 prices, read on 16 September 2026. These are the selling prices each shop displayed that day, not recommended retail prices — several of these brands discount, so check the linked page before you buy. Licence numbers are as the UMF Honey Association publishes them.
How this comparison works, and what it isn't
Every price below was read on the brand's own New Zealand online shop on one day, and every UMF™ licence number was read on the UMF Honey Association's own page for that brand. There are no ratings, no ranks and no "our pick". The only ordering is by price per 100 g, and that number is in the table so you can check it.
- These are selling prices on the day. Several of these brands discount. Manuka Doctor's UMF™ 15+ 250 g was cheaper than their own UMF™ 12+ 250 g when we looked, which tells you how much a single day's price is worth.
- Brands label grades differently. Manuka Doctor sells 6+, 8+, 12+, 17+, 19+, 22+ and 23+, which are not rows on UMFHA's table. Where we've had to use a near grade, the row says so.
- Some famous names aren't here. Manukora, New Zealand Honey Co. and Steens price their own shops in US dollars. We name them at the bottom rather than converting their prices into a New Zealand number we made up.
- We don't stock any of these brands. We have no wholesale account, no affiliate arrangement and no commercial relationship with any of them, and no link on this page earns us anything.
Why is the same grade five times the price at a different brand?
We don't know, and we'd rather say so than guess. A grade is a floor, so one brand's UMF™ 10+ may test well above the minimum while another sits near it, and brands differ in packaging, marketing, export focus and how hard they discount. None of that is visible from the outside, and none of it is on the jar.
What should I actually buy?
Pick the grade you want for taste and budget, then buy it from whoever sells that grade at the lowest price per 100 g in a size you'll get through. Read what the grade measures first, so you know what you're paying more for: a higher minimum MGO, tested, in that batch.
The five brands, and how to check each one
Arataki Honey
We don't stock this brandUMF™ licence #1003 — held by Arataki Honey Limited (Rotorua), per UMFHA's own page for them.
Their mānuka labels print the UMF™ grade and the MGO figure together, and the MGO figures they print — 83+, 261+, 512+, 826+ — are the same minimums as UMFHA's own table.
- UMF™ 5+, 10+, 15+, 18+ and 20+ mānuka in 250 g and 500 g
- Floral honeys: clover, rewarewa, kāmahi, rātā, pōhutukawa, tāwari, thyme and blue borage
- Comb honey in 150 g and 340 g pots
Egmont Honey
We don't stock this brandUMF™ licence #1888 — held by Egmont Honey Ltd, per UMFHA's own page for them.
Egmont runs two labels — a standard one and a 'Black & Gold' one — at some of the same grades and different prices, so read which label a price belongs to. Their .com shop prices in US dollars; the prices in our table are from their New Zealand shop.
- UMF™ 5+, 10+, 15+, 16+, 20+, 23+ and 25+ mānuka in 250 g, 500 g and 1 kg
- Two label ranges at some grades, at different prices
- MGO-only jars at 50+ and 83+
Onuku Honey
We don't stock this brandUMF™ licence #2252 — held by Onuku Limited, per UMFHA's own page for them.
Onuku's range covers both halves of this shop — graded mānuka and floral honeys — from one account, which is why they are the first producer we are approaching. Nothing has been agreed with them.
- UMF™ 5+, 10+, 15+, 20+ and 25+ mānuka in 250 g and 500 g
- Native tree honey in 250 g and 500 g, rewarewa and multifloral in 500 g
- A wholesale page for stockists
Comvita
We don't stock this brandUMF™ licence #1019 — held by Comvita Ltd, per UMFHA's own page for them.
The largest range of the five, and the highest price per 100 g at every grade we compared on the day we checked.
- UMF™ 5+, 10+, 15+, 18+, 20+ and 25+ mānuka in 50 g, 250 g, 500 g and 1 kg
- Sachets and multi-packs
- Lozenges
Manuka Doctor
We don't stock this brandUMF™ licence #1026 — held by Manuka Doctor Limited, per UMFHA's own page for them.
They label grades UMFHA's table does not list a row for (6+, 8+, 12+, 17+, 19+, 22+, 23+). Their shop was also discounting heavily on the day we read it — their UMF™ 15+ 250 g was cheaper than their UMF™ 12+ 250 g — so a price from this brand is a price on a day, not a standing price.
- Monofloral mānuka labelled UMF™ 6+, 8+, 10+, 12+, 14+, 15+, 17+, 19+, 22+, 23+ and 25+
- 250 g jars, 500 g jars and 300 g squeeze bottles
Brands we did not price, because their shops are in US dollars
These names come up constantly in searches for the best mānuka honey. Converting their prices into a New Zealand number ourselves would be inventing one, so we name them, link them and leave it there.
- Manukora — Prices in US dollars. UMF™ licence #2228, Manukora Limited.
- New Zealand Honey Co. — US-facing shop. UMF™ licence #2060, New Zealand Honey Co. Ltd.
- Steens Honey — Prices in US dollars, jar sizes in ounces. UMF™ licence #2204, PA & SC Steens Ltd.
Frequently asked questions
Which brand is best?
We won't answer that, because we'd have to invent a criterion to do it. We can tell you which was cheapest per 100 g at each grade on the day we checked, and the table does.
Are these prices current?
They were right on the date at the top of the table and every row links to the page we read. Check the link before you buy; honey prices move and these brands discount.
Do you earn money from these links?
Not today. Every outbound link on this page is plain. If a brand's affiliate programme is ever approved, that brand's row will say so, the link will carry rel="sponsored", and our disclosure page will name it. Affiliate status will never change the order of the table.
Why aren't Comvita's and Manuka Health's supermarket prices here?
Because we read each brand's own shop, where we can link you to the exact page and the exact date. Supermarket prices vary by store and week, and we have no way to source one you could check.
Can I buy from you instead?
Not yet. We won't list a jar until a wholesale account is signed, the stock is in hand, and the producer has confirmed the grade and licence number as printed. Join the waitlist and you'll get one email when that's done.
