What makes a honey gift good?
- Sealed jars in the producer's own packaging. Nothing decanted, re-labelled or re-potted. The producer's label is what carries the grade, the licence number and the mandatory food information.
- A grade they'll eat. A single very high grade looks impressive and then sits in a cupboard. Two mid jars often land better than one showy one.
- A variety they can't get at the supermarket. Rewarewa, kāmahi, thyme or rātā from a named producer reads as considered in a way a second jar of mānuka doesn't.
- No prices in the box. Obvious, and still the thing most often got wrong.
What does a decent honey gift cost right now?
Buying direct from producers, a pair of 500 g floral jars runs around $25–$30 total, and a 250 g UMF™ 10+ mānuka jar ranged from $18 to $68 across five brands on the day we checked. The full price table is here, and the floral range here.
What will your gift packs be?
Honey and only honey, packed by us, with fixed contents listed on the page — the producer, the jar and the size for every item — a printed note card and no prices inside. Nothing is listed until we hold the stock. Until then the gift packs page is a waitlist and says so.
Frequently asked questions
Can I send honey overseas?
Not through us — we're New Zealand delivery only at launch, because glass in an international parcel is an expensive problem we haven't solved. Some producers ship overseas themselves.
Will a glass jar survive the courier?
Mostly, and when it doesn't that's our problem to fix. Our delivery and returns terms cover transit damage, and the Consumer Guarantees Act applies regardless.
Can I include a message?
Yes, that's built into the checkout: a recipient name, a message we print on a card, and prices left out of the box by default. It isn't running yet because the shop isn't.
What about corporate gifting?
Later. It needs volume pricing we can't quote until we have wholesale accounts, and we won't quote one before then.
